National BBQ Festival (NBF) rules have been established since 2002, developed with input from leaders of BBQ sanctioning bodies across the country. From 2002 to 2011, the National BBQ Festival event was produced by Kell and Janet Phelps in partnership with Barbecue News Magazine and the National Barbecue & Grilling Association.

As a true national competition, the NBF rules are designed to create a fair and level playing field for competitors from all BBQ associations. To ensure the highest standards in judging, all NBF judges must either have prior experience in a sanctioned BBQ competition or complete an NBF judges’ school. Our goal is to recruit judges with credentials from respected sanctioning bodies such as KCBS, MBN, FBA, WFC, SCA, NEBS, and other renowned organizations

The SCA steak entry fee is $160 and double steak is $320; all other ancillary entry fees are $50 each. Your entry includes a 10’x15’ space.

National BBQ Festival 

Booth Area Size Options (Required) 

  • 20'x20': $1,550

  • 20'x40': $2,000 

Space fee includes entry into the NBF competition for up to three (3) categories, six(6) 24-hour wristbands, up to (2) 20-amp electrical drops, and access to communal restrooms and handwashing stations.
