Thyron Mathews is a champion pitmaster, entrepreneur, and the winner of Netflix’s Barbecue Showdown Season 2, known for his deep-rooted family traditions and mastery of open-fire cooking.
Founder of T&T BBQ, Mathews has earned 16 Grand Championships across Northeast Iowa and built a thriving food trailer and catering business, sharing his family's time-honored recipes with the world. Originally from Royal, Iowa, he grew up learning the craft of barbecue in his family’s backyard, where tradition, technique, and a whole lot of moppin’ shaped his signature style. Now, as one of the most exciting voices in BBQ, Mathews continues to honor those roots while bringing his bold, competition-winning flavors to a global audience.
